Craft Beer from Around the World
Arrowine’s selection of beer is wide, seasonal and eclectic. We offer more than 350 different beers at a time, changing selections with the seasons. We carry beer of the highest quality made with the best ingredients.
Our beer department features a huge selection of American micro breweries such as Troegs, Lagunitas, Stone Brewing Co., Bells Brewing, and Smuttynose Brewing Co., and imported beers from Europe, including Germany, Belgium, and The British Isles.
At Arrowine, we sell only the freshest beer. The stock moves fast so you know you are always buying fresh beer. Special care is taken to ensure all beer is kept at optimal temperatures and away from strong light, which can damage quality. We stand behind every beer we sell and know that you will be completely satisfied.
Join us for complimentary Thursday Night Craft Beer Tastings! A changing selection of beer is sampled every week at Arrowine on Thursday nights from 5 to 7 pm. Tasting discounts apply!
A Very Special Beer Offer! February 21, 2012
Troeg’s Nugget Nectar Arrives Stock up and save!!!
January traditionally sees many specialty beer releases, and the arrival of Troeg’s Nugget Nectar is as eagerly anticipated as any other. The 2012 Nugget Nectar release has been pushed back a bit as Troeg’s moves into its new brewery in Hershey, Pennsylvania, but the wait has paid off with a larger batch of Nugget Nectar to start us off this year! We at Arrowine are happy to see Nugget Nectar back in stock; happy enough in fact to offer special pricing on this first run, with those buying a case getting one of the best prices in the country. But first, some more about Nugget Nectar:
Troeg’s Nugget Nectar (Imperial Amber Ale), Hershey, PA: 7.5% ABV, ~93 IBU
Our Regular 6-pack price $13.99/6-pack
SALE: Two 6-packs $11.99/6-pack
CASE PRICE (four 6-packs) $10.99/6-pack
A treat for the hophead and casual drinker alike, Troeg’s Nugget Nectar Ale has been wowing beer fans everywhere since its first release. Based on the outstanding Hopback Amber Ale, Nugget Nectar manages to exaggerate and intensify Hopback’s unique balance of malty drinkability and assertive hop character without losing its way or becoming overblown.
Where Hopback pours a deep red in color Nugget Nectar is a bit lighter, much closer to Amber in fact. Aromas in the glass are rich with touches of grapefruit and light caramel. On the palate Nugget is very smooth, almost shockingly so for a beer so intensely hoppy. The roundness of the citrus notes is cut by the hops acidity only just so in a careful balancing act. The malts’ presence on the palate is analogous to its effect on Nugget Nectar’s hue – subtle but crucial to the beers’ overall character, bringing mild hop-balancing sweetness and a touch of caramel and grain. All together, Nugget Nectar is the total package: notably hoppy yet with a respectably low ABV for an Imperial, rich in flavor yet approachable and a great food pairing Ale (Troeg’s recommends earthy cheeses, shellfish, and smoked meat; I’d also add poultry with rich sauces and BBQ to that).
“an intoxicating and uniquely American beast…pints of this evaporate…this knockout brew has become quite the cult late winter release for hopheads in the know.”—Lee Williams, hoptopia.com
Call Arrowine at 703.525.0990 or email to reserve your Nugget Nectar. The beer is in stock now, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity!

Beer News from Nick Anderson:
Please note: Craft Beer Tastings will now be held on Friday nights from now on!
February 16, 2012
Lots of cool stuff happening this week. Before we get to the tasting though, I should note that for all of you who have been asking HopSlam is tentatively scheduled to arrive next week. If everything goes according to schedule, I should have it in next Tuesday, February 21. Keep an eye on Arrowine's Twitter (@ArrowineInc) and Facebook pages for up-to-the-minute news.
Speaking of news, we'll be seeing three more cases of Founder's Double Trouble this week, along with more of the North Coast Old Stock and Weyerbacher Unfiltered Double Simcoe we tasted last week.
Let's take a look at this week's tasting:
Arrowine Friday Beer Tasting February 17, 2012 5-7:30 PM
New Belgium Biere de Mars (Farmhouse Ale), Fort Collins, CO: 6.2% ABV, 22 IBU This yearly release from New Belgium is a harbinger of Spring. Biere de Mars has a clever blend of barley, oats, and wheat malt that give a light yet rustic character to the beer, while lemon peel and verbena give it a light, refreshing note. Supplies of Biere de Mars are limited but we should be seeing more next week, so don't worry if you miss out this week.
Southern Tier Gemini (Imperial/Double IPA), Lakewood, NY: 10.5% ABV This January special release from Southern Tier is a sought-after blend of two their great beers--the world-class Unearthly DIPA and Hoppe, an often overlooked Imperial Extra Pale Ale. While the blending of these hoppier beers may lead one to expect an overripe, super-bitter hopbomb, Gemini sees the two Ales finding balance. The rich, biscuity malts from Unearthly round the mouthfeel, while the sharp Extra Pale-style hop notes brighten up the beer and give Gemini a welcome backbone. Gemini never seems to last long, so if you've never tried it make sure to come by this Friday.
Boulder Brewing Mojo Risin (Imperial/Double IPA), Boulder, CO: 10% ABV, 100 IBU This once-per-year version of Boulder's Mojo IPA sees additional malts and double dry-hopping to take it to another level. While it's not subtle, the malt does effort to keep the big hoppy feel in check. That said, this is an Imperial IPA for hopheads so take this as fair warning; if you're looking for intense hop character, this is definitely a beer for you.
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale 2012 (Barleywine), Chico, CA: 9.6% ABV, 90 IBU First released in 1985, Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot Barleywine is a classic of American Craft Beer. Bigfoot was, in fact, the first Barleywine I ever tried and I suspect it was the first for many of us out there. For those who may be unfamiliar, Bigfoot is an English-style Barleywine built for long-term aging but balanced and enjoyable now. The malts bring dark fruit notes and sweetness to balance the alcohol level while the hops serve to cut through it all and keep the beer drinkable. All in all, Bigfoot is a great earthy and bittersweet Ale to get you through the winter or to hold for the next 5-10 years.
New Belgium Cocoa Mole Ale, Fort Collins, CO: 9% ABV Another limited release from New Belgium, Cocoa Mole is making quite a noise among beer geeks all over the country. 2011 was the year of spicy beer recipes, and 2012 seems to be carrying that trend as well--Cocoa Mole features a blend of ancho, guajillo, and chipotle peppers along with cocoa and cinnamon. Amber/brown in color, Cocoa Mole shows a remarkable balance for those spices thanks to the chocolate and caramel malts used.
Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
Cheers!
