The new SHOTFIRE SHIRAZ is here. It's the 2010, and it's great. It's the best we've had in years--we like it even better than the outstanding 2009 and the first publications to review it agree. The Wine Spectator rated this 2010 two points higher than the 2009 and three points higher than the 2008. Australia's oldest wine publication, Winestate, gave it a rare 5 STAR rating (out of 5). We haven't heard yet from Halliday (Australia's most famous critic who rated the 2009 Shotfire Shiraz at 94 points), or from Parker (America's most famous critic who's ratings for Shotfire Shiraz over 9 vintages average over 90 points), or from Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, who's rating for the 2009 tied as their highest ever.
This wine has been a phenomenon at Arrowine since the 2002 vintage. Customers love it even more than the critics love it. It is the most popular wine of all from the amazing Thorn-Clarke winery that's earned a "5-star" from Halliday 6 years running and who's motto is "over-deliver". The reason is simple-- it has the quality, mouthfeel, and style of a much more expensive wine.
Supplies are limited, though, so order soon. To order, just call us at 703-525-0990. With all these accolades, you'd think we were talking about a very expensive wine. But (at least at Arrowine) it's just $14.99 per bottle by the case!

Shotfire Shiraz has been among our most talked about wines since the 2002 vintage. Two different vintages have earned a spot in Wine Spectator's prestigious list of Top 100 Wines of the Year. It's earned scores up to 94 points in the Wine Advocate. Year after year, customers just love the dark, rich, mouth-coating opulence of the Shotfire shiraz and the texture that belongs on a far more expensive wine. The 2010 vintage more than lives up to its regal pedigree, too. We like it even better than the 2009 that earned a 94 point rating from Australia's most important wine critic, James Halliday.
The motto of the family run Thorn-Clarke winery is "over deliver" and that is exactly what they do. Again and again. And our special e-mail price - we haven't seen a lower price in the USA - means this will likely be extremely popular. Don't wait--stock up today.
Earlier vintages of Shotfire Shiraz have been wildly popular. We've had quick sell-outs and requests for repeat sales for months. Every vintage of Thorn-Clarke's Shotfire Ridge Shiraz has impressed. It simply has the flavor and texture of a very expensive top-level Barossa Shiraz, with a price tag that doesn't match. It's deep; it's rich; it's textured; it's complex, and it always shows a fine balance between powerful opulence and refinement.

Here's the note from the Wine Spectator:
"Smooth, polished and open-textured, with a violet note weaving through the plum and blackberry flavors, lingering easily. Drink now through 2018. 90 .Points ('outstanding')." Harvey Steiman, WineSpectator.com, 2012
And the review from Winestate:
"5* - Ripe style without being over ripe. Beautiful varietal fruit vibrancy balanced with well-handled oak and a lovely, firm, seamless tannic backbone. Has warmth, texture and structure." Winestate "Barossa & Eden Valley Tasting Notes", March / April 2012 Edition
