Seasonal Beer

Our selection of seasonal beer changes often and the best way to learn more is to come to Arrowine and take a look around.

Here are Nick Anderson's Top Picks:

Full Sail Session Fest Lager, Hood River, OR: 6.2% ABV, 26 IBU
The Session Red Label has been called one of the best beers in America by Men's Journal and won the World Beer Awards Gold Medal for Best Premium Lager in 2010. Session Black Lager is a DRAFT Magazine "Classic", earning 95 points in their review. Now we're set to receive their new Session Fest Lager. Brewed as a traditional Czech-style Poltomavé (semi-dark Lager), the Fest mixes wheat and caramel malts among others with Glacier and Cascade hops to make a beer that has great rich malty tones with a seasonally appropriate pineyness from its hops. Arrival pending; check for it around mid-late November or early December

Founder's Breakfast Stout (Imperial Stout), Grand Rapids, MI: 8.3% ABV, 60 IBU
The Kentucky and Canadian Breakfast Stouts may be more rare and sought-after, but pound-for-pound the original Breakfast Stout is just about the most interesting, complex and richly textured Stout made in the United States. The initial impressions are of roasted malts and coffee (Sumatra and Kona are used in brewing Breakfast Stout) with undertones of chocolate. What could be an overly heavy beer is kept in check with an impressive amount of hops, giving Breakfast Stout a crisp backbone and a long, clean finish. This beer is a seasonal release; stock up now and enjoy Founder's Breakfast Stout all winter!

Bell's Winter White (Belgian-Style White Ale), Kalamazoo, MI: 5% ABV
One of the most popular Winter Ales available (particularly popular in my home), the Bell's Winter White is the polar opposite of most winter seasonals. Rather than go for a Stout, Porter or other dark beer, Bell's crafts a world-class cloudy Belgian-style Witbier for the cold months. Winter White features some great spicy Belgian yeast notes without having too much of the citrus and coriander flavors that can turn some off to the style. It may seem like a change of pace at first, but Winter White may soon just become your standard go-to beer when the snow starts falling. Arriving late November-Early December

Anderson Valley Winter Solstice (Winter Warmer), Boonville, CA: 6.9% ABV, 6 IBU
Anderson Valley's seasonal is a clean Ale with flavors of nutmeg and spices tempered by the most subtle of hoppy notes. This beer is made for your Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner tables, playing well off of various types of food. Also, it's a great beer to have by a fire with a nice selection of cheeses.

Heavy Seas Winter Storm "Category 5 Ale" (Imperial ESB), Baltimore, MD: 7.5% ABV
The winter seasonal from Heavy Seas is a unique American-styled Imperial Extra Special Bitter. Made with a blend of American and British hops, Winter Storm pours a deep amber color. If you're not one for spicy or sweeter winter beers, the intense backbone and floral, bitter hop notes of Winter Storm may be just the thing for you.
